Select the log file you want to analyse using File with Raw Log Data from the Select Menu.
You can also choose the log format on this screen.

Once you have selected a web log file you can immediately produce a basic report of search terms used. To get more useful report, you can first specify target pages

This program provides stats on users who find your site with a search engines
Web Log Analyzer by Search Term provides a different set of stats to those produced by all other web log analyzer programs. The aim is to identify which search terms bring the best users and make sure you get the most from them.
Analysis of users is done according to which keyword or search term was used to find your site. As well as total number of visitors who used a specific keyword, the proportion that came with each search engine, the number who clicked through to other pages on your site and the most popular pages can be seen for that keyword. Some other web log analyzer programs also show some of this information.
The most useful information is however available only with Web Log Analyzer by Search Term:
For each keyword or search term, it is determined whether specific target pages were reached. Unique
For sites with a ZIP or EXE to download the results indicate whether enough bytes were downloaded for the file to be complete. Unique
All of these detailed results can be plotted to see the changes over time. Unique
Results can be summarised so that the main info you need (the bottom line) is easily accessible from a single screen. Unique

Aim of Web Log Analyzer by Search Term
The usual target of Search Engine Optimisation is getting a user to come to your site. Almost all sites want to achieve more than that.
Perhaps you want users to get to your product list and then to the buy now page. Perhaps you want users to download a ZIP or EXE with a trial version of your product. Almost all sites have an initial target of pursuading users to surf further to other pages on their site. Other targets will be defined as specific to the site.
Web Log Analyzer by Search Term measures which of your targets are reached for each search term that brought users to your site.
Stats Shown by Web Log Analyzer by Search Term
For each target/search term combination stats shown are:
the total number of users who reached the target
the % of all users who came to the site with that search time
the % of all users who came to the site with that search time and then stayed-surfed to at least one other page or file.
For each search term the results can be plotted over time with the totals for each seven day period shown on a bar chart.
Simply select a line of results to have the results plotted on the bottom part of the screen.
For each seven day period, the total number of users will be plotted next to the total who achieved each target. You can use this bar chart to see the results of any change you made and immediately identify possible problems that are affecting your traffic.
Just the management summary please
As soon as you start to look at any web log analyzer, you will notice that
- you are being given a huge number of numbers, percentages, charts and graphs.
- it's totally unclear what is important, where the bottom line is.
Even though Web Log Analyzer by Search Term concentrates on a specific group of users (referrals from search engines), it will be immediately obvious there are simply too many results, specifically too many search terms.
To make the results more useful, Web Log Analyzer by Search Term allows you to define groups of search terms and display stats for each target as well as plot the changes over time for the whole group.
For example if you are interested in users when searched for offline browser, you do not usually want to seperate users who searched for offline browsers, offline browsing, how to browse offline, etc.
