- all links on a page
- only links in selected part
- only links containing specified text
- only links starting with specified text
- only links that are a number
- only urls starting with or containing a specified text
Which Links will be requested is determined by the two menu options
Selected Only
Get Only Links Containing ...
If both are checked then only links BOTH in the selected part of the page AND that also satisfy the Get Links Containing rule will be requested.
Additionally an option is available on the Get Links Containing Screen to "Never add the Same Page more than Once". When this option is checked, a URL will only be added once even if several links are selected that have the same URL.
The fragment (position on the web page) part of the URL is ignored for this check. I.e. if two links specify the same page but different positions on the page (different fragments), only the first link will be added.

How to Enter Rule Details
The Rule Name is generated automatically. It shows what the rule will do. This name is listed on the Select Rule screen.
The Rule is used to determine which Links will be fetched. Each Link will be fetched only when it satisies the rule condition.
The rule condition can be based on part or all of the link. A link is a block of HTML starting and ending with an anchor (A) tag. E.g. <A HREF="index.htm" TARGET="_blank">Home Page</A>
| The Part of the link to be tested will be one of | For this example the part that will be tested is: |
| Link Text | Home Page |
| Full URL | http://www.1keytools.com/index.htm |
| Either Link Text or URL | Home Page http://www.1keytools.com/index.htm |
| Any part of link tag | <A HREF="index.htm" TARGET="_blank"> |
| Any part of the HTML for the link | <A HREF="index.htm" TARGET="_blank">Home Page</A> |
One possibility is to check only for numeric values (1, 2, etc).
This will usually be used to check Link Text. Many Search result pages show second, third pages etc as 1 2 3 4.
Links with text "1. The history of ..." will not be fetched if the Rule is defined as "is a Number".
All other conditions consist of
- an operator (Starts With / Contains / Equals)
- plus the value to be compared
- and whether the comparison should treat small and capital letters (a vs A) as different or the same.
The value to compared is treated as a single value and can contain spaces.
E.g. Rule >>> "Link Text" Contains "Show Next" <<< will give results:
Cycle - Show Next IE window [Ctrl+Y] will be selected
Next Show will *NOT* be selected
